Beef Pastilla
A Moroccan-inspired dish made with crispy beef and zesty spices, wrapped in a layer of flaky pastry.
Ingredients
- β500g BeefGround beef
- β250g TomatoesCanned or fresh
- β1 sheet Flaky Pastry
- β2 tbsp Moroccan SpicesZesty spice mix
- β2 Eggs
- β50g Butter
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black Pepper
- β1 tsp Zesty SpicesOptional

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large pan, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the Moroccan spices, salt, and black pepper to the pan and stir to combine.

Add the canned tomatoes to the pan and stir to combine.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and butter.

Roll out the flaky pastry to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Spoon the beef mixture onto one half of the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg mixture and fold the other half of the pastry over the filling.

Press the edges of the pastry together to seal the pastilla.

Use a knife to cut a few slits in the top of the pastilla to allow steam to escape.

Brush the top of the pastilla with the remaining egg mixture and sprinkle with zesty spices if desired.

Bake the pastilla in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
