Japanese Pork Dumplings with Zesty Dipping Sauce
A classic Japanese dish where pan-seared pork dumplings are served with a zesty dipping sauce made from soy sauce and vinegar.
Ingredients
- β20 Japanese dumpling wrappers
- β1/2 pound Ground pork
- β1/4 cup Zesty dipping saucesee below
- β2 tablespoons Soy saucefor dipping sauce
- β1 tablespoon Vinegarfor dipping sauce
- β1/4 teaspoon Sugarfor dipping sauce
- β1/4 teaspoon Gingerfor dipping sauce
- β1/4 cup Green onionsfor garnish

In a large pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat.

Add the ground pork and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and ginger to the pan and stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the liquid has almost completely evaporated.

Let the pork mixture cool slightly.

To assemble the dumplings, lay a dumpling wrapper on a clean surface and place a tablespoon of the pork mixture in the center of the wrapper.

Dip your finger in a small amount of water and run it along the edge of the wrapper.

Fold the wrapper into a half-moon shape, pressing the edges together to seal the dumpling.

Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

When the oil is hot, add the dumplings to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown.

Serve the dumplings hot with a side of zesty dipping sauce (see below).

To make the dipping sauce, combine 1/4 cup of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon of sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of grated ginger in a small bowl.
