Zesty Turnip Gratin
A creamy, flavorful side dish that's perfect for any occasion. The zesty twist adds a nice kick to the classic gratin.
Ingredients
- ●1 1 large turnipabout 1 pound
- ●4 oz 1/4 cup zesty cheesesuch as Gruyère or Cheddar
- ●2 oz 1/4 cup grated cheesesuch as Parmesan or Gouda
- ●2 fl oz 1/4 cup heavy creamor half-and-half
- ●2 2 cloves garlicminced
- ●1/2 tsp 1 tsp dried thymefresh thyme is also nice

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Peel and thinly slice the turnip.

In a large saucepan, combine the sliced turnip, garlic, and thyme. Add enough water to cover and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the turnip is slightly tender.

In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the zesty cheese and grated cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.

Stir in the heavy cream and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Transfer the cooked turnip to a baking dish and top with the cheese sauce.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the gratin is heated through.
