Uruguayan Smoked Pea Gratin
A hearty, comforting dish that combines the rich flavors of Uruguay with the simplicity of a gratin. This recipe is perfect for a cold winter night.
Ingredients
- β1 packet Gratin dauphinoisavailable in most supermarkets
- β1 tsp Smoked paprikaoptional
- β1 cup, shredded Zesty cheesesuch as cheddar or feta
- β1 cup, frozen or fresh Fresh peasor other vegetables of your choice
- β1/2 cup, diced Uruguayan sausagesuch as chorizo or morcilla
- β2 tbsp Olive oilfor greasing the dish
- β1 clove Garlicminced

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with olive oil.

Open the packet of gratin dauphinois and follow the instructions to prepare the mix.

In a large pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.

Add the diced sausage and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the frozen peas and cook until thawed, then set aside.

In a separate pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.

Add the grated cheese and stir until melted and smooth.

Pour the cheese mixture over the cooked sausage and peas.

Top with the prepared gratin dauphinois mix.
