Traditional British Bangers and Mash
A hearty British dish featuring sausages in a rich onion gravy, served with creamy mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- β4 sausages
- β1 large onion
- β2 cloves garlic
- β3 large potatoes
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- β2 tablespoons butter
- β1 cup milk
- β1 teaspoon gravy granules
- βto taste salt and pepper

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the potatoes until tender.

2. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot with the butter, milk, and flour.

3. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.

4. In a large pan over medium heat, cook the sausages until browned on all sides.

5. Remove the sausages from the pan and set aside.

6. In the same pan, add the onion and cook until softened.

7. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

8. Sprinkle the flour over the onion mixture and cook for 1 minute.

9. Gradually add the gravy granules, whisking continuously.

10. Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook until thickened.

11. Return the sausages to the pan and cook for a further 5 minutes.

12. Serve the sausages with the mashed potatoes and the onion gravy.
