Eastern Toor Dal
A comforting and flavorful Indian-inspired toor dal recipe. Easy to make and perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- ●1 cup Toor dal
- ●1 medium Onionchopped
- ●1-inch piece Gingergrated
- ●2 cloves Garlicminced
- ●1 medium Tomatodiced
- ●1 teaspoon Cumin powder
- ●1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- ●1/2 teaspoon Red chili powder
- ●to taste Salt
- ●4 cups Water

Wash and soak the toor dal in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let it sizzle.

Add the chopped onion and sauté until it's translucent.

Add the grated ginger and minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

Add the diced tomato and sauté until it's soft.

Add the cumin powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well.

Add the soaked toor dal and mix well.

Add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 20 minutes or until the dal is cooked.

Season with salt to taste.
