Jordanian Mansaf
A classic Jordanian dish made with tender lamb cooked in a rich yogurt sauce and served over rice.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds Beef (or lamb), cut into small piecesYou can also use lamb if preferred
- β1 medium Onion, choppedYou can adjust the amount based on your preference
- β3-4 cloves Garlic, mincedAdjust to taste
- β2 tablespoons Mansaf spice blendA mix of cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and black pepper
- β1 cup YogurtFull-fat yogurt works best for this dish
- β2 cups RiceWhite or brown rice can be used
- βto taste Delicate spices (such as cardamom and rosewater)Optional, add for extra flavor
Instructions

Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Add the lamb pieces and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the mansaf spice blend and stir to coat the lamb.

Add the yogurt and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Reduce heat to medium-low and let the mixture cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the lamb is tender.

While the lamb is cooking, prepare the rice according to package instructions.

To serve, place a scoop of rice on a plate, then top with the lamb and sauce.
