Dabo and Pepper Schnitzel
A German-inspired schnitzel recipe combining the flavors of exotic spices with dabo and pepper.
Ingredients
- β4 pieces Dabo
- β1 tsp Exotic spices (berbere, etc.)
- β2 cups Pepper
- β1 cup Breadcrumbs
- β2 tbsp Butter
- β2 eggs Eggs
- β1 cup Flour
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1 tsp Black pepper
- β2 cups Vegetable oil
Instructions
- 1
Cut the dabo into thin cutlets.
- 2
In a shallow dish, mix together flour, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
- 4
In a third dish, mix together breadcrumbs and exotic spices.
- 5
Dip each dabo cutlet in the flour mixture, coating both sides, then in the eggs, and finally in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the crumbs onto the meat to adhere.
- 6
Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- 7
When the oil is hot, add 2-3 dabo cutlets to the skillet and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 8
Transfer the cooked schnitzel to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- 9
Repeat with the remaining dabo cutlets.
- 10
Serve the schnitzel hot with your favorite sides, such as lemon wedges, coleslaw, or braised red cabbage.
