Syrian Lentil Stew
A flavorful and nutritious stew originating from Syria, made with tender lentils and a blend of aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Syrian lentilsRinsed and drained
- β1 medium OnionChopped
- β2 cloves GarlicMinced
- β2 tablespoons Exquisite olive oilHeat-stable
- β1 teaspoon CuminGround
- β1/2 teaspoon PaprikaGround
- β1/4 teaspoon SaltTo taste
- β1/4 teaspoon Black pepperTo taste
- β2 tablespoons Emulsified tomato pasteHeat-stable

Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

Add the cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.

Add the lentils, stir to combine, and cook for 1 minute.

Add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30-40 minutes or until the lentils are tender.
