Slovakian Frenchie Tacos
A twist on traditional tacos, this Slovakian-inspired dish combines the flavors of Mexico and Europe. The tender Slovakian meat is slow-cooked in a rich, fermented broth and served in crispy tacos.
Ingredients
- β1 (1.5 pound) piece Slovakian pork shoulder
- β2 tablespoons Lime juice
- β1/4 cup Fermented chili peppers
- β1/2 cup Bread, torn into small pieces
- β1 medium Onion, diced
- β2 cloves Garlic, minced
- β1 teaspoon Cumin, ground
- β1/2 teaspoon Salt
- β1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
- β8-10 corn tortillas Tortillas

In a large Dutch oven, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat.

Add the pork shoulder and brown on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Add the onion, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper to the pot and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the fermented chili peppers and bread to the pot and stir to combine.

Add the lime juice and stir to combine.

Transfer the pot to the oven and cook, covered, at 300Β°F for 2 1/2 hours, or until the meat is tender.

Remove the pot from the oven and let it cool slightly.

Shred the meat with two forks and stir to combine with the juices.

Warm the tortillas by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and microwaving for 20-30 seconds.

Assemble the tacos by spooning the meat mixture onto a tortilla and topping with your desired toppings.
