Lamb Dal Curry
A flavorful and comforting Indian-inspired curry made with tender lamb and a rich dal sauce. Serve with basmati rice or naan bread.
Ingredients
- β1/4 cup fresh cilantrochopped
- β1 pound velvety lamb shouldercut into 1-inch pieces
- β1 cup dalsplit red lentils
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β2 inches gingergrated
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β2 teaspoons cumin powder
- β1 teaspoon coriander powder
- β1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- β1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Add the onion, ginger, and garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent.

Add the lamb and cook until browned. Remove from heat and set aside.

Add the cumin, coriander, turmeric, and red pepper flakes to the pan. Cook for 1 minute.

Add the dal and 4 cups of water to the pan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

Add the lamb back to the pan and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.

Stir in the chopped cilantro. Season with salt to taste.
