Smoked Lamb Bao with Chinese Caramel Sauce
A fusion of Asian and Mediterranean flavors, this dish combines tender smoked lamb with the sweetness of Chinese caramel sauce, served in a crispy bao bun.
Ingredients

- β4 bao bunsavailable in most Asian grocery stores
- β1 tsp chinese five-spice powder
- β2 tbsp sugar
- β2 tbsp soy sauce
- β1 tbsp rice vinegar
- β1 tsp sesame oil

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Wrap the bao buns in foil and bake for 5 minutes.

In a small saucepan, combine sugar, soy sauce, and rice vinegar.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.

Remove the bao buns from the oven and toast them with a kitchen torch or under the broiler for 1-2 minutes.
