Cocoa Dulce de Leche Flan
A classic Uruguayan dessert with a twist, inspired by the intense flavors of dulce de leche and cocoa. This comforting flan is a perfect treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
- β4 large egg yolksroom temperature
- β1 cup granulated sugarplus 1/2 cup for caramelizing
- β2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- β1 cup dulce de leche
- β1 cup heavy cream
- β1 cup whole milk
- β bowlfor serving

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a medium bowl, whisk together egg yolks and 1 cup sugar until pale yellow.

In a separate bowl, whisk together cocoa powder and dulce de leche until smooth.

Add the cocoa mixture to the egg yolk mixture and whisk until well combined.

Pour the mixture into 4-6 ramekins or custard cups.

Place the ramekins in a large bowl or baking dish and add hot water to come halfway up the sides of the ramekins.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly jiggly.

Remove from the water bath and let cool to room temperature.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.

Just before serving, sprinkle with a pinch of sugar and serve in bowls.

Caramelize the sugar by placing the ramekins under the broiler for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.
