Traditional British Beef Stew
A hearty, comforting British beef stew made with tender chunks of beef and root vegetables.
Ingredients
- ●1 pound Beef Stew Meat
- ●2 medium Carrotspeeled and chopped
- ●2 large Potatoespeeled and chopped
- ●1 large Onionschopped
- ●3 cloves Garlicminced
- ●2 tablespoons All-purpose Flour
- ●2 cups Beef Broth
- ●1 cup Red Wineoptional
- ●1 sprig Thymefresh
- ● Salt and Pepper

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the beef in batches, then set aside.

Add more oil if necessary, then sauté the onions and garlic until softened.

Add the carrots and potatoes, cook for 5 minutes.

Add the flour, stir to combine.

Gradually add the beef broth, whisking continuously.

Add the browned beef, red wine (if using), and thyme.

Bring to a boil, then cover and transfer to the oven.

Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 2-3 hours, or until the beef is tender.
