Galaktoboureko with a Twist
A traditional Greek dessert with a creamy jellylike filling, wrapped in flaky phyllo and topped with a velvety syrup.
Ingredients
- β1 package Phyllo dough
- β1 1/2 cups Greek custard
- β1 cup Jellylike filling (lemon or orange)
- β1/4 cup Vegetable oil
- β1 cup Powdered sugar
- β1 tsp Vanilla extract
- β1/4 tsp Cinnamon
- β1/2 cup Walnuts (optional)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Thaw phyllo dough according to package instructions.

Cut phyllo into 4 equal pieces.

Place a piece of phyllo on a flat surface, brush with oil, and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Repeat the above step 3 times, creating a stack.

Cut the stack into 4 equal pieces, creating triangles.

Place a spoonful of Greek custard in the center of each triangle.

Top with a spoonful of jellylike filling and fold the phyllo over to form a triangle.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

While the galaktoboureko is baking, prepare the syrup by whisking together powdered sugar and vanilla extract.

Once the galaktoboureko is done, brush with syrup and sprinkle with walnuts (if using).
