Beef Stew Norwegian Style
A hearty beef stew inspired by traditional Norwegian cuisine, perfect for a cold winter's night.
Ingredients
- β1 pound beef stew meatcut into 1-inch cubes
- β2 large norwegian jubilant potatoespeeled and cubed
- β1 large onionchopped
- β2 medium carrotpeeled and sliced
- β2 stalks celerychopped
- β2 cups beef brothhomemade or store-bought
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flourfor thickening
- β1 cup red wineoptional
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add beef cubes and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove beef from pot and set aside.

Add chopped onion, carrot, and celery to pot and cook until tender, about 10 minutes.

Add flour and cook for 1 minute.

Gradually add beef broth, whisking constantly.

Return beef to pot and add red wine if using.

Bring stew to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 2 1/2 hours, or until beef is tender.
