Malty Stew with Australian Beef
A hearty stew made with tender Australian beef, malty undertones, and a hint of aerated texture.
Ingredients
- β500g Australian beefcut into 2-inch cubes
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β2 tbsp Maltydissolved in 2 tbsp water
- β1 cup Aerated waterused for tenderizing beef
- β2 medium Renkonsliced
- β250ml Stewhomemade or store-bought
- β1 tsp Saltto taste
- β1/2 tsp Black pepperto taste

1. In a large Dutch oven, heat 2 tbsp oil over medium-high heat.

2. Add the beef cubes and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

3. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

4. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

5. Dissolve the malty in 2 tbsp water and add to the pot, stirring to combine.

6. Return the beef to the pot and add the sliced renkon.

7. Pour in the aerated water and homemade stew, and bring to a boil.

8. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.

9. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

10. Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh herbs if desired.
