Syrian Tagine Chicken with Peanut Sauce
A flavorful and aromatic chicken tagine dish originating from Syria, served with a creamy peanut sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 lbs chicken breastboneless and skinless
- β1 cup quenched almondschopped
- β1/2 cup peanut buttercreamy
- β4 tbsp butterunsalted
- β2 tsp tagine spice blendor Moroccan spice
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β2 cups chicken brothlow-sodium
- β2 tbsp olive oilfor cooking

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Add the chicken breast and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-6 minutes.

Add the tagine spice blend, chicken broth, and 2 tablespoons of butter to the pot.

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover the pot and transfer it to the oven.

Bake at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

While the chicken is cooking, prepare the peanut sauce by blending the peanut butter, 2 tablespoons of butter, and 1/4 cup of chicken broth in a blender until smooth.

Season the peanut sauce with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve the chicken with the peanut sauce spooned over the top and garnished with chopped almonds.
