Syrnyk with Fig Compote
A traditional Ukrainian dessert featuring a creamy cheese filling and a sweet fig compote.
Ingredients
- β250g Syrnyk cheese
- β120ml Heavy cream
- β100g Sugar
- β4 Fresh figs
- β2 tbsp Lemon juice
- β2 tbsp Cornstarch
- β2 tbsp Butter

In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, sugar, and butter. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Bring mixture to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, or until slightly thickened.

Remove from heat and stir in cornstarch mixture. Let cool slightly.

Crumble Syrnyk cheese into a bowl and mix in lemon juice.

Add cooled cream mixture to cheese mixture and mix until smooth.

Spoon creamy mixture into individual serving cups or ramekins.

In a separate saucepan, combine figs and 2 tbsp sugar. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally.

Cook figs for 10-12 minutes, or until they're tender and caramelized.

Serve fig compote over creamy cheese mixture.
