Ethiopian Kitfo with Rich Smoky Spice Blend
A traditional Ethiopian dish with a twist, featuring tender kitfo beef and a rich, smoky spice blend.
Ingredients
- β1 pound kitfo beefraw, finely chopped
- β2 tablespoons Ethiopian mitmita spice blendstore-bought or homemade
- β2 tablespoons niter kibbeh (Ethiopian clarified butter)store-bought or homemade
- β1 medium chopped onion
- β1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- β2 cloves garlic
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper

1. In a large bowl, combine the chopped kitfo beef and mitmita spice blend. Mix well to coat the beef evenly.

2. Heat the niter kibbeh in a large skillet over medium heat.

3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

4. Add the garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute.

5. Add the beef mixture to the skillet and cook to desired level of doneness, about 3-5 minutes for medium-rare.

6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
