Zanzibari Poffertjes with Light Silky Sauce
A simple yet elegant dessert featuring poffertjes with a zanzibari inspired sauce, topped with a silky light whipped cream.
Ingredients
- β250g Poffertjes Mixavailable at most Dutch bakeries
- β1 tsp Zanzibari Spice Blendcontains cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg
- β2 tbsp Unsalted Buttersoftened
- β2 Large Eggsroom temperature
- β1 cup Granulated Sugardivided
- β1 cup Light Creamchilled
- β1 cup Rich Whipped Creamchilled

Preheat a non-stick poffertjes pan or a regular pan with a small amount of butter.

Combine poffertjes mix, zanzibari spice blend, and 1 tbsp of unsalted butter in a bowl.

Add large eggs and mix until a smooth batter forms.

Gradually add 3/4 cup of granulated sugar and mix until combined.

Pour the batter into the preheated pan and cook until the poffertjes are golden brown.

In a separate bowl, whip the light cream until stiff peaks form.

Add the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and whip until combined.

To assemble the dessert, place 2-3 poffertjes on a plate, top with a dollop of light whipped cream, and drizzle with the silky sauce (optional).

If desired, top with rich whipped cream and a sprinkle of zanzibari spice blend.
