Ukrainian-Style Pirozhki
Flaky pastry pockets filled with a savory robust Ukrainian-inspired filling. Perfect as a snack or light meal.
Ingredients
- β1 package (thawed) Flaky Pastry
- β1 cup Robust Ukrainian Meat Filling (beef, pork, onion, carrot, mushroom, dill)
- β1 Egg
- β1 tablespoon Water
- βto taste Salt
- βto taste Black Pepper

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the flaky pastry to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Cut out circles of pastry using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

In a small bowl, mix together the robust Ukrainian meat filling, egg, salt, and black pepper.

Place a tablespoon of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry circle.

Brush the edges of the pastry with water, then fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle or a square shape.

Press the edges of the pastry together to seal the pirozhki.

Place the pirozhki on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Brush the tops of the pirozhki with a little water, then sprinkle with a pinch of salt.

Bake the pirozhki in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
