Algerian Chicken and Tomato Stew
A flavorful and aromatic stew originating from Algeria, made with tender chicken, fresh tomatoes, and a blend of spices.
Ingredients
- β1 pound, cut into 1-inch pieces chicken breast
- β2 teaspoons algerian spice blendavailable at most Middle Eastern markets
- β2 large, diced tomatofresh or canned
- β2, juiced sour orangesor substitute with lemon juice
- β2 tablespoons olive oil
- β3 cloves, minced garlic
- β1 medium, chopped onion

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the chicken and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the diced tomatoes, Algerian spice blend, and sour oranges to the pot.

Stir to combine, then add the browned chicken back to the pot.

Bring the stew to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook, covered, until the chicken is cooked through and the flavors have melded together, about 20-25 minutes.
