Slovakian-Style Braised Pork Stew
A hearty, comforting stew made with tender pork and Slovakian spices, perfect for a cold winter's night.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds Tender pork shouldercut into 2-inch cubes
- β2 tablespoons Molten lard or vegetable oilfor browning
- β1 teaspoon Slovakian paprikasmoked or sweet
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β2 medium Carrotspeeled and chopped
- β2 large Potatoespeeled and chopped

Heat the molten lard or oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Brown the pork cubes on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove from pot and set aside.

Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Add the chopped carrots and potatoes to the pot and cook for 5 minutes.

Add the browned pork back to the pot, along with the Slovakian paprika.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Cover the pot and transfer to the oven.

Braise in the preheated oven at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 2 1/2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
