Cozy Slovakian Braised Collard Greens
A hearty and comforting dish featuring tender collard greens in a rich, Slovakian-inspired sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 bunch collards
- β1 cup braisedSlovakian-style braised sauce
- β2 tablespoons velvetyVelvety sauce, see notes
- β1 medium onion
- β3 cloves garlic
Instructions

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add collard greens and cook until wilted.

Stir in braised sauce and velvety sauce (see notes).

Bring to a simmer and cook, covered, until greens are tender, about 20-25 minutes.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh herbs, if desired.

Note: To make velvety sauce, combine 2 tablespoons of butter with 2 tablespoons of heavy cream in a small saucepan.
