Warmly Spiced American Knafeh Casserole
A twist on traditional Middle Eastern knafeh, this casserole combines the warm spices of America with the sweet cheese of knafeh.
Ingredients
- β1 package ( thawed) shredded phyllo dough
- β1/2 cup (melted) unsalted butter
- β1 cup (shredded) warmly spiced american cheese
- β1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
- β1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- β1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- β1 cup (shredded) knafeh cheese
- β1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350Β°F (180Β°C).

Butter a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the shredded phyllo dough and cook, stirring frequently, until golden brown.

Transfer the cooked phyllo dough to the prepared baking dish.

In a separate bowl, mix together the warmly spiced american cheese, confectioners' sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Pour the cheese mixture over the cooked phyllo dough.
