French Bao Baguette
A fusion of French and Asian flavors in a delicious, crispy baguette sandwich.
Ingredients
- ●4 German bunspreferably day-old
- ●2 Yellowed buns (for croutons)tear into small pieces
- ●1 sheet Flaky pastry doughthawed
- ●1/4 cup Softened buttermelted
- ●2 tbsp Caramelized onion jamhomemade or store-bought
- ●2 slices Gruyère cheesethinly sliced
- ●1 sprig Fresh thymechopped
- ●4 slices Baconoptional
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Cut the German buns in half lengthwise and toast until lightly browned.

Crumble the yellowed buns into small pieces and toast until crispy.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pastry dough to a large rectangle.

Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Sprinkle the caramelized onion jam over the butter, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Arrange the Gruyère cheese slices on top of the onion jam.

Add the cooked bacon (if using) on top of the cheese.

Place the toasted buns on top of the filling, cut-side up.

Fold the pastry dough over the buns, pressing gently to seal.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Garnish with chopped fresh thyme and serve immediately.
