Crispy Bratwurst Empanadas
A twist on traditional German bratwurst, these crispy empanadas are filled with juicy sausage and served as a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
- ●4 Bratwurst sausageYou can use store-bought or homemade sausage for this recipe
- ●1 package Uruguayan empanada doughYou can also use homemade dough or store-bought empanada wrappers
- ●1 tsp Aromatic spicesUse a blend of paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder for added flavor
- ●1 cup Crispy empanada crustUse panko breadcrumbs for a light and crispy crust
- ●2 tbsp FatUse vegetable oil or lard for frying the empanadas
- ●1 tsp ScoreUse a pastry brush to apply the score (a mixture of egg and water) to the empanada dough

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the empanada dough according to the package instructions.

Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces.

Roll out each piece into a thin circle.

Place a few slices of bratwurst sausage in the center of each circle.

Brush the edges with the score (egg and water mixture).

Fold the dough in half to form a half-moon shape and press the edges together to seal the empanada.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with the remaining score mixture.

Dip the tops of the empanadas in the crispy empanada crust mixture.

Fry the empanadas in hot oil (about 1-2 inches deep) at 375°F (190°C) for 2-3 minutes on each side.
