Crispy Chicken Tagine
A Chinese-inspired dish with Japanese twist, featuring a crispy chicken tagine with aerated sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 lb chicken breastboneless, skinless
- β2 tsp tagine spice blendadjust to taste
- β1/2 cup aerated saucestore-bought or homemade
- β2 tbsp japanese rice vinegarfor marinade
- β2 tbsp soy saucefor marinade
- β2 tbsp vegetable oilfor frying
- β1 tsp cornstarchfor coating
- β1/4 cup green onionsfor garnish
- β1 tsp sesame seedsfor garnish

1. In a large bowl, whisk together Japanese rice vinegar, soy sauce, and 1 tsp of tagine spice blend. Add the chicken breast and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

2. Preheat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing any excess to drip off.

3. Dredge the chicken in cornstarch, shaking off excess.

4. Fry the chicken until golden brown and crispy, about 5-6 minutes per side.

5. In a small bowl, mix together the remaining 1 tsp of tagine spice blend and 1/4 cup of aerated sauce.

6. Brush the tagine sauce mixture onto the fried chicken.
