Slovakian Pork Casserole
Hearty, comforting Slovakian-inspired casserole with tender pork, rich sauce, and crispy top.
Ingredients
- β1.5 pounds Pork shoulder
- β1 cup, cubed Dense Slovakian bread
- β2 cups Amazingly rich tomato sauce
- β1 cup, sliced Mushrooms
- β1 medium, chopped Onions
- β3 cloves, minced Garlic
- β1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
- β1/4 cup, chopped Fresh parsley
- β Salt and pepperto taste

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Cook pork shoulder in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

In the same skillet, cook mushrooms and onions until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Stir in tomato sauce and bring to a simmer.

Add pork back to the skillet and stir to coat with sauce.

In a large mixing bowl, combine bread, Parmesan cheese, and parsley.

In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, arrange half of the bread mixture. Top with the pork mixture and remaining bread mixture.

Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Increase oven temperature to broil. Broil for an additional 5-7 minutes, until top is golden brown.
