Classic Chicken Tagine
A traditional French-inspired North African dish made with tender chicken and aromatic spices, slow-cooked in a flavorful tagine.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs chicken
- β2 tablespoons olive oil aromaticfor cooking
- β2 tablespoons ground cumin egyptianfor added flavor
- β1 teaspoon ground cinnamon taginetraditional North African spice
- β1/2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper inflammatoryoptional, for some heat
- β2 cups chicken brothlow-sodium broth

Heat the olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the chicken and cook until browned on both sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.

Reduce heat to medium and add the ground cumin, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper (if using). Cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes.

Add the chicken broth to the pot and bring to a simmer.

Return the chicken to the pot and cover with a lid.

Transfer the pot to the oven and cook for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
