Orange Zest Bread Pudding
A traditional German bread pudding infused with the brightness of orange zest, perfect as a dessert.
Ingredients
- β2 cups, cut into 1-inch cubes bread, staleany type of bread works, but a dense bread like challah or brioche is best
- β2 tablespoons orange zestfrom about 1 large orange
- β1/2 cup orange, juicefrom about 1 large orange
- β1/2 cup granulated sugaror to taste
- β2 large eggsbeaten
- β1 cup milkwhole milk or a non-dairy milk alternative
- β1 teaspoon vanilla extractoptional
- β2 tablespoons butter, meltedor to taste
- β1 cup puddingstore-bought or homemade

Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (180Β°C).

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the orange juice, sugar, eggs, and melted butter.

Add the milk, vanilla extract, and whisk until well combined.

Add the bread cubes and toss until the bread is evenly coated with the wet ingredients.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the bread mixture sit for 10-15 minutes.

After the bread has sat for 10-15 minutes, add the orange zest and pudding.

Mix until the bread and pudding are evenly distributed.

Pour the mixture into a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the pudding is set.
