Apple Empanada aux Fruits
A seasonal twist on the classic empanada, filled with caramelized apples and topped with a crumbly pastry crust.
Ingredients
- β2-3 Apples
- β1 package Pastry dough
- β1 tsp Cinnamonground
- β2 tbsp Sugar
- β2 tbsp Buttermelted
- β1 Eggbeaten (for egg wash)
- β1 tsp Almond extract

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Roll out the pastry dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced apples and cook until caramelized, stirring occasionally.

Add the cinnamon and sugar to the pan and stir to combine.

Place the apple mixture onto one half of the pastry dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges.

Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg.

Fold the other half of the pastry dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.

Use a knife to cut a few slits in the top of the empanada to allow steam to escape.

Brush the top of the empanada with the remaining egg wash.

Bake the empanada for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
