Hake Tikka Masala Pie
A flavorful and spicy Indian-inspired pie filled with tender hake in a rich tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 pound hake fillets
- β1 packet yeastfor pie crust
- β2 cups all-purpose flour
- β1/2 cup butter
- β1 medium onion
- β3 cloves garlic
- β1 tablespoon ginger
- β1 teaspoon cumin
- β1 teaspoon coriander
- β1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- β1 can tomato puree
- β1 can coconut milk
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper
- βhomemade or store-bought pie crust

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Make the pie crust according to the recipe and set aside.

In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the garlic and ginger and cook for another minute.

Add the cumin, coriander, and cayenne pepper and cook for 1 minute.

Add the tomato puree and coconut milk and stir to combine.

Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.

Place the hake fillets in the pie crust and spoon the sauce over the top.

Roll out the remaining pie crust to fit the top of the pie.

Brush the crust with a little water and bake the pie for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the fish is cooked through.
